DeKALB, Texas—Ozell Thompson, 98, of New Boston, Texas, died Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Texarkana. She was a former Deputy with Bowie County Clerk's Office and a secretary and member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church, New Boston. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Thompson. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Thompson of New Boston; two grandchildren and spouses, Kelly and Andrew Aslin of New Boston and April and Lance Gholston of Arlington, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Zack Warren, Addison Gholston and Grayson Gholston; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Westside Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Stringer and Shannon Doyen officiating. Burial will be in Red Bayou Cemetery under direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
