Jackie Barton

CLARKSVILLE, Texas—Jackie Ray Barton, 69, of Bagwell, Texas, died Friday, March 15, 2019, in Paris, Texas. Mr. Barton was born June 14, 1949, in Clarksville. He was a math teacher at Linden-Kildare Independent School District; former principal at Simms ISD and superintendent at Forestburg ISD; past teacher at Clarksville, Dallas and Lancaster school districts. He also was a former Red River County commissioner and a member of Bagwell Church of Christ. Mr. Barton was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tyler Henderson. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Stephen Stringer of Paris; one brother, Presley "Buddy" Eddins of Blossom, Texas; two sisters, Tempie Johnson of Detroit, Texas, and his twin, Kay Wells Bruner of Greenwood, Miss.; one grandson, Keith Henderson of Blossom; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clarksville Funeral Home with Buddy Eddins officiating. Burial will be in Blanton Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
