LONNIE SUMMERS

Lonnie Summers was born February 12. 1947, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to the late Lonnie Austin Jr. and Ollie Mae Jamison-Summers. He departed this life on November 2. 2019 with his lovely wife Rickie by his side. Lonnie accepted Christ at an early age at the Church of Christ in Texarkana, Ark., where he was baptized by Rev. Smith. Lonnie attended Booker T. Washington High School in Texarkana, Arkansas. He moved to Oklahoma City during his senior year of high school. He graduated from Central High School in 1965. He furthered his education at the Southwest Automotive Paint & Body School. In 1967 he met Rickie Dean Hicks and they began a life together. He married Rickie D. Hicks on June 7, 1969. They were married for 50 years. Lonnie worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services as the Lead Supervisor for 41 years. He later retired in 2010 from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Lonnie was a hard worker who excelled in all that he did. He was always full of love and laughter everytime you saw him. Lonnie enjoyed spending time with loved ones and watching sports. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. Lonnie loved to work on cars, and he was known for his delicious pound cakes. He is survived by: Wife, Rickie Summers; Sister, Ollie Jamison; Brother, Donnie Beed, Sr.; Daughter, Phyllis Robertson; God-daughter, Keima Dean; 8 nieces, 7 nephews, 5 grandchildren; 9 greatgrandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life (Closed Casket Service) will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Lyles Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F.S. Barnes officiating. Friday, November 15, 2019 , visitation will be at Lyles Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 P.M. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens under direction of Lyles Funeral Home.
