Gene A. Ammons

Gene A. Ammons passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 82. Gene was born August 26, 1937, in Waldo, Arkansas to Marvin N. and Maud Birchfield Ammons. He was a Career Navy Veteran and attended Malta Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter, Veronica Lynn Ammons. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Cindy Bryan of De Kalb, Texas and Becky and Mike Warren of Athens, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Gene Ammons, II and Brenda Ammons of Wills Point, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Sims of De Kalb, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Mitzi Ammons of Magnolia, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and spouses, eight great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 20, 2019 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Todd Reed and Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 20, 2019 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
