She was retired from Liberty Eylau ISD and a member of Hamilton Memorial AME Church. Survivors include spouse: Rev. John Henry Holmes, Jr. of Texarkana, TX; 4 sons: Sidney Holmes of Henderson, TX; George Holmes of Livingston, TX; Christopher Holmes (Denice) of Texarkana, AR and John Holmes III of Palestine, TX; 3 daughters: Cynthia Roberta Lemay (Ruben) of Texarkana, TX; Stephanie Arnold-White of Wake Village, TX and Hannah Vaughn (Winfred) of Columbus, AR; 1 sister: Wendell Lois Oxide of Palestine, TX; 2 brothers: Jessie Gray (Manuela) of Flint, TX and Robert Simpson (Iris) of Round Rock, TX; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 goddaughter: Jessica White of Texarkana, TX; 1 aunt: Ruby Faith Blakemore of Palestine, TX. Services are Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Hopewell Temple CME Church with Pastor Kai Horn officiating and eulogist Rev. John Holmes. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens-Wake Village. Services are under the direction of Haynes Mortuary, Inc. Visitation is Friday, September 20, 2019 from 5:00—7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
