NEW BOSTON, Texas - With the November General Election now just five months away, the Bowie County Elections Administration has applied for about $150,000 in grant funds provided by the Help America Vote grant program.
Earlier this week, Bowie County Elections Administrator Pat McCoy told the county Commissioners Court that his office will need the money for ballot printing, postage, labor and office supplies as well as for the cleaning and sanitizing of electronic voting machines.
Besides the traditional needs, McCoy told the court that he anticipates perhaps as much as a 20% increase in request for mail-in ballots this year.
Following McCoy's presentation, the the court approved the application.
