Lies

TO THE EDITOR:

The Supreme Court has taken up the case of Roe vs Wade and may soon reverse what has been the law of the land for almost 50 years. Most feel that it will be overturned and abortion will once again be illegal except in a few cases. Now, I've always been somewhat Pro-Life, not because some "God" thinks it's a bad idea, but I believed life began at conception. However, I have softened my thoughts on this issue over the past two years, as I can see the other side's argument has merit. It's hard to support the idea that someone has a right to tell a woman what she can do with her body. Still, it's not an issue that keeps me up at night.

If Roe vs Wade is overturned, many will proclaim victory over evil and that God is good and right has prevailed. However, these will be the same people, who will gladly support Donald Trump's "Big Lie" about the 2020 election. You see, God hates abortion, but lying, well, not so much. Lying has become the norm for the Republican Party and its most vocal advocates. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorn, and Paul Gosar, among others, all continue to spread the lie that the 2020 election was somehow stolen and that Donald Trump is still President. Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy, has continued to call for the election to be overturned, with the flimsiest of evidence. Pastors, such as Greg Locke, scream, again without evidence, that Democrats are pedophiles and are somehow in league with the devil. His followers believe it all because he cloaks it in Christian rhetoric and calls it a sermon. Sin is, whatever is convenient for them. God apparently has no say in the matter.

I saw a hat the other day that I'd like to buy. It said "Make Lying Wrong Again". I could wear it outside and I guarantee I'd get cold looks from Trump supporters, because they'd know who I was talking about. They know he lies, and they don't care. And that is more of a danger to our country than abortion ever was.
