Texarkana Arkansas School Board to consider reorganizing at today's meeting

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- The School Board here will meet this evening to consider a number of topics including face covering guidelines and reorganizing the board.

The district has been re-evaluating its mask policy monthly, and decided to make face coverings optional during last month's regular meeting.

Based on the data that showed a lower number of student cases as of late, Superintendent Dr. Becky Kesler recommended suspending the requirement of face coverings but continuing to highly recommend that staff, students, parents and visitors continue to wear masks while indoors and when unable to socially distance.

The board will look to reorganize its members during the meeting, in addition to hearing a report from the Harmony Leadership Academy.

There will also be a superintendent's item on the agenda to consider a non-recurring salary payment.

Business Manager Andrew Hill will present the finance report, as well as bids to be considered

Dr. Robin Hickerson, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, will make a report and non-contracted rates of pay will be discussed.

After Hickerson's reports, an executive session will be considered before adjourning.

(The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the TASD Administration Building.)
