Plenty to do in Texarkana's Spring Lake Park in October

TEXARKANA, Texas -- The city has a full slate of activities planned through the rest of October in Spring Lake Park.

Movies in the Park, the annual Fall Festival, a community yard sale and electronics recycling event, and Trunk or Treating all will return to the park this month.

Movies in the Park

Oct. 21 -- "Cruella"

PG-13. 2021. Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry. This live-action prequel tells the origin story of "101 Dalmations" villainess Cruella de Vil.

Oct. 28 -- "The Town That Dreaded Sundown"

R. 1976. Ben Johnson, Andrew Prine, Dawn Wells. Loosely based on the true story of the Phantom Killer. In 1946, a Texas Ranger hunts for a hooded serial killer terrorizing the residents of Texarkana.

Each movie will begin as the sun sets, around 7:30 to 7:45 p.m.

Viewers are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on. Concessions will be available on site.

Fall Festival

Oct. 21

Scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the free festival features hay rides, costume contests, pumpkin decorating, games and more -- not to mention lots of candy.

Community yard sale

and electronics recycling

Oct. 23

The semiannual community yard sale returns from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Recyclable electronics will be collected, as well.

Trunk or Treat

Oct. 30

The Parks and Recreation Department and Texarkana Texas Police Department will host the third annual Trunk or Treat from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Volunteers are needed to hand out candy, and Halloween costumes are encouraged.
