EDITORIAL/Fun Times: Lots to do today in Twin Cities

Looking for something fun today in Texarkana?

Well, there's a lot going on to choose from.

Need a little jazz in your life? The Four States Jazz Festival kicks off at noon today at Central Mall. Enjoy bands from Arkansas High, Texas High, Pleasant Grove and Fouke all day along with a performance by the Texarkana Jazz Orchestra at 6 p.m.

Or maybe ragtime is more your speed. The Texarkana Museums System is offering a bus tour which will take you around the sites associated with music legend Scott Joplin. The first tour leaves at 11 a.m. from the P. J. Ahern Home at 403 Laurel Street on the Arkansas side. You might even get the chance to met Joplin himself along the way.

More music awaits when the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra presents "Dreaming Together," with Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Martinez performing classics tonight at the Perot Theatre. Concert preview is at 6:40 p.m. with the event beginning at 7:30 pm.

Not feeling musical? How about food?

The Junior League of Texarkana is hosting the first Twin City Meat Up beginning at 10 a.m. in Downtown Texarkana. There will be plenty of vendors, a car show, food trucks and a barbecue cookoff.

We often see folks on social media complaining about the lack of things to do in the Twin Cities. Well, with all that's going on, if you can't have a good time today, then you've no one to blame but yourself.
