PG begins softball playoffs

TEXARKANA -- Pleasant Grove opens the Class 4A softball playoffs this week against Henderson, while the Texas-side baseball teams wrap up their regular seasons.

The Lady Hawks clash with the Lady Lions in a 4A bi-district series at Marshall High School. The opener is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday will be Game 2 at 7 p.m. and, if needed, a third game will be played at 12:30 p.m. Saturday back at Lady Mav Field.

Arkansas High has two weeks left on its regular season schedule. AHS hosts El Dorado today and travels to Lakeside on Friday in both softball and baseball, and the Razorbacks also have a non-conference baseball game Thursday at Ashdown.

Texas High's baseball team played Henderson Monday at Marshall and hosts Marshall Friday to conclude the regular season and District 15-5A play. The Tigers have clinched a playoff berth, as have Pleasant Grove and Liberty-Eylau's baseball teams.

The Hawks play at North Lamar today and wrap up the regular season at home Friday against Gilmer.

The Leopards play at Paris today before hosting North Lamar Friday.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana baseball hosts Southern Arkansas today before playing a 3-game series at University of the Southwest Friday and Saturday.

The Eagle softball team, coming off a split with RRAC-leading Our Lady of the Lake University, which saw its national-best 24-game win streak ended by TAMU-T, plays at Jarvis Christian College Thursday for a doubleheader.

Local regional qualifiers in track & field will also compete this Friday and Saturday at their respective sites. THS' regional qualifiers will be at The University of Texas-Arlington, and L-E and PG will compete at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
