Man accused of using commercial can opener to damage former boss’ car

TEXARKANA, Texas -- A man accused of using a can opener to bash the windows of his former manager's car has been charged with felony criminal mischief in Bowie County.

Russell Leroy Traylor, 60, allegedly became angry April 20 after being fired from his job at the Lunch Box on Robison Road in Texarkana, Texas, according to a probable cause affidavit. He allegedly grabbed an industrial can opener from inside the business before walking to his manager's parked red 2010 Cadillac.

The manager reported to Texarkana, Texas, police that as he looked outside through a restaurant window, he saw Traylor use the tool to vandalize the vehicle. Traylor allegedly left after being "yelled at."

Damage to the Cadillac reportedly includes a broken front windshield, back window and back passenger-side window. The alleged victim said a Texarkana body shop was working on repairs to the car estimated to cost $5,662.98.

Traylor was arrested April 22 and released April 26 on a $15,000 bond. He faces six months to two years in a state jail if convicted of felony criminal mischief involving damage of $2,500 to $30,000.

The case has been assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison.
