TEXARKANA, Texas-- Jennifer Wittman hopes to bring something from her home to her business this holiday season.

Wittman's espresso stand, Rooster Coffee Co., will be donating all of its profits from Dec. 2 and matching them in a donation to local nonprofit organization For the Sake of One.

"We (Wittman and her husband) have always donated to Cass County," the espresso connoisseur said. "We get their CPS list, and we usually get quite a few kids."

Wittman said her family made sure to donate coats and blankets to FSO's coat drives in the past and remembered the nonprofit when thinking about what her business can do for the community during the holidays.

"I just thought, we can go with them," Wittman said. "It's not just Miller County, but also Bowie and Cass, It's a very broad area (that they serve.)"

Wittman said "it's been a roller coaster" since opening her stand in September, but that the stand quickly gained loyal regulars.

"We've had our ups and downs," Wittman said. "But we've gotten our rhythm and it's fully picked up. We're in a comfortable spot where I can sleep at night."

Wittman said news about donation has created a buzz.

"The post (about the matched donation) has been shared quite a bit, two dozen or three dozen times," Wittman said. "On Black Friday, we had double our normal sales, so I'm hoping we can do at least that for the area and then some."

For the Sake of One's Executive Director Angela Coston said her staff is overwhelmed with what the local business is doing for them.

"As we are putting together Christmas presents for local children in foster care, or at risk of entering, we welcome all donations to help these children have a better Christmas. We will be ordering coffee from Roosters tomorrow," Coston said. "Not everyone can foster or adopt, but everyone can do something to help, and tomorrow that thing is as simple as drinking coffee."

Wittman remains hopeful about the donation.

"I do hope we raise a good amount for the kiddos. There's so many lists out there, and sometimes when you look at the lists, it'll really tug at your heartstrings. Some kids are asking for socks or pajamas, the most basic thing."

Roosters Coffee Co. also will be passing out some of their holiday goodies at Atlanta's Christmas Parade on Dec. 3 and at Texarkana's Christmas Parade on Dec. 5.

Roosters is at 5884 U.S. Highway 59.
