TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Members of Sugar Hill Methodist Church are collecting stuffed animals for police officers to use when they encounter young children on the job.

The gently used teddy bears and other stuffed animals will be given to officers to keep in their squad cars in the event of being called out to a family disturbance involving small children.

The church has met half of its goal of presenting 200 stuffed animals to TAPD by January 18.

Donations can be dropped off 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday or 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the church, 1621 Sugar Hill Road.

For more information, call 870-779-1805.
