TEXARKANA, Texas -- North Lamar outscored Pleasant Grove by 20 points in the second half and defeated the Lady Hawks, 62-30, in a District 15-4A girls varsity basketball game at Hawk Gym on Friday.

"Unforced turnovers on our part and allowing too many second chance shots is what did it in for us," Pleasant Grove head coach Codi Davidson said. "We're young, inexperienced and we're still learning.

"Adi Koller had a pretty good game tonight. She's aggressive under the basket and draws a lot of fouls. My two freshmen, Kenasia Henry and Reese Gibbs, make some freshman-type mistakes sometimes, but they are getting better every game. The good thing is we get North Lamar again so we get a chance to redeem ourselves."

Koller led the Hawks in both points, 8, and rebounds, 7. Gibbs scored seven points for Pleasant Grove.

The Pantherettes shot 42 percent from the field (22 of 52), while the Hawks sunk 24 percent of their shots (8 of 33). North Lamar outrebounded Pleasant Grove, 41-27, and had fewer turnovers, 26-18.

The fourth quarter was played on even terms until the Pantherettes had a 6-0 spurt to end the game. North Lamar outscored the Hawks in every quarter.

After a Gibbs layup to start off the third quarter, the Pantherettes went on a 12-0 run to take a 38-16 lead midway through the third.

North Lamar entered the fourth quarter down by 27 points, 48-21. The Pantherettes controlled much of the tempo and outscored PG in the quarter, 14-9.

Pleasant Grove went into the locker room at halftime down, 26-14. The Hawks shot just 17 percent from the field in the first half (3 of 18) compared to 47 percent for North Lamar (9 of 19).

Koller scored 6 of her 8 points in the first quarter for Pleasant Grove. The Pantherettes took a 14-10 lead into the second quarter.

North Lamar outscored the Hawks, 12-4, in the second. All of Pleasant Grove's points came via free throws.
