Lady Leopards rout Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Texas -- Liberty-Eylau closed out the first half of girls District 15-4A basketball with a 61-28 romp over host Pittsburg Tuesday.

The Lady Leopards led by nine at the end of the first quarter and 18 points at halftime.

Bryana Block led L-E in scoring with 21 points. Myah Hurd and Kayla Crabtree contributed 13 points apiece, and Ja'Niya Sanders had 10.

Liberty-Eylau improved to 4-1 in league play and are at Gilmer Friday to start the second half of district.

Longhorns boys, girls down Pirates

MCLEOD, Texas -- Tyler Williams set the nets ablaze with 22 points as McLeod defeated James Bowie, 61-50, in a varsity boys basketball game.

Mason Teer had 13 points for the winners and teammate Kannon Dempsey pulled down 15 boards to go with 8 points.

The Pirates were led by a pair of seniors, Ethan Morden, who swished in 19 points, and Jared Hock, who scored 17 points.

Parker Patrick put up 10 points as McLeod outlasted James Bowie in the junior varsity contest, 39-32.

Lane Johnson had a game-high 11 points for the Pirates.

Ella Lambeth fired in 16 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Horns to a 33-24 win over James Bowie in the varsity girls game.

Hornets top Dragons

REDWATER, Texas -- Hooks went to Redwater and came up with a 64-41 victory in varsity boys action.

Reilly Orlando led the topped Dragons with 10 points with 6 rebounds, and teammate Cole Turner had 9 points with 8 rebounds. Drew Graves and Connor Holland had 6 points with 2 rebounds apiece.

Fouke romps past Prescott

PRESCOTT, Ark. -- Ashlyn Caudle scored 12 points to lead Fouke to a 48-26 win over Prescott in a senior girls basketball game.

Kaylene Heflin added 10 points for the Lady Panthers (16-3, 5-2) in the victory.

Kendall Haworth poured in 15 points and Fouke won the junior girls game, 56-21. Laynie Richardson had 13 points and teammate Allison Caudle scored 10 for the Panthers.

AHS reschedules games

Arkansas High has rescheduled the games it missed last week and this week due to COVID protocols.

On Thursday, Jan. 27, AHS hosts Lakeside, and on Thursday, Feb. 3 the Razorbacks and Lady Backs will play at El Dorado. On Feb. 10, Arkansas High travels to Hot Springs, and the next Thursday host Sheridan.

Soccer

Lady Tigers edge Lady Hawks

London Spangler scored off an assist from freshman Carlyn Clack in the first half, and Texas High made the lone goal stand up with a 1-0 win at Pleasant Grove.

Kaylee Norton collected the clean sheet in goal for the Lady Tigers, and defensive standouts included Carrigan Brush, Lexie Lansdell, Sarah Cook and Alison Rosas.

Allison Garza and Ellison Davis each had four shots on goal for THS.

Subvarsity

Arkansas Seventh Grade Girls Basketball went 2-0 in the Fouke, Ark., Jamboree. AMS won game 1 , 22-3. Savannah Wilder led the winners with 8 points and McKanelie Tyles scored 6 points.

AMS won game 16-3, with Savanna Wilder scoring 6.
