TEXARKANA, Ark. -- A Miller County jury acquitted a man Wednesday of two counts of rape involving a teen girl.

Scott Preston Dunson, 38, was accused of sexual misconduct with the girl in 2019 and 2020. Charges were filed against Dunson in 2020.

Dunson's lawyer, Josh Potter of Texarkana, said he thinks the jury made the right decision in returning two not guilty verdicts in the case.

"I'm thankful for the jury's consideration of all of the evidence and holding the state to its high burden of proof," Potter said.

Circuit Judge Wren Autrey presided over the trial.
