TEXARKANA -- Hundreds were left without electricity Sunday evening after a violent storm battered trees and power lines and dumped rain on the Twin Cities, dropping the temperature nearly 30 degrees.

About 8:20 p.m. Sunday, SWEPCO's outage page listed 85 outage cases accounting for more than 4,000 customers. Power began to be restored by 8:30 p.m., but more than 2,600 customers were still without power by 9 p.m.

SWEPCO representative Shantell Jordan said a blown circuit and broken utility poles downtown account for many of the remaining outages.

"There is no restoration time at this point, but crews are working," she said.
