Texas A&M University-Texarkana split Saturday's doubleheader against Our Lady of The Lake, winning Game 1, 5-3, and falling late in Game 2, 10-9.

The Eagles, however, did win the series, 2-1, with Friday night's victory.

A&M-Texarkana (13-10,6-3) struck first in the bottom of the second. After a Brandon Riley triple, Hunter Reid came up and hit a hard ground ball to second base scoring Riley for a 1-0 lead.

TAMU-T put up a crooked number in the bottom of the third when Wyatt Stavinoha reached on an error by the Saints third baseman allowing pinch runner Marzavin Riles to score. Starkey followed up with a double scoring Stavinoha and made it a 3-0 game. Giancarlo Mijares knocked in the final run of the third with a single to right making it a 4-0 A&M-Texarkana lead.

Casey Nimmo came in to relieve Nathan Hunter in the fifth as OLLU came out swinging, scoring two runs of their own to cut the TAMU-T lead, 4-2.

The Eagles added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a monster home run by Giancarlo Mijares — his third of the season.

The Saints (8-14,5-5) added a run in the seventh but it would not be enough.

Mijares was the only Eagle to record multiple hits with two. Shraedon Naeole-Starkey, Brandon Riley, Ryan Peterson and Kyle McMullen all had singles in the win.

Hunter received the win, throwing four innings, giving up two hits, no runs, two walks and three strikeouts.
