Two men charged with child porn possession in separate Bowie County cases

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Two men have been arrested in unrelated investigations of child pornography this month in Bowie County.

The men came to the attention of Texarkana Texas Police Department via a tip from the Dallas Internet Crimes Against Children task force working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Jared Upchurch, 31, was arrested March 3, the same day TTPD searched his residence in the 6200 block of Gould Street. Investigators allegedly found images, including 32 videos and 10 photos, of prepubescent and pubescent girls in an application "masquerading as a calculator" on one of Upchurch's devices, according to the police report.

Upchurch is free on a $35,000 bond.

Robert Dudley Hamby, 33, was arrested March 15. While Hamby was being held in the Bowie County jail on an unrelated charge in January, investigators acquired a search warrant to go through his phone, which was being held in property at the jail. The phone allegedly contained multiple images depicting child pornography.

Hamby remains in the Bowie County jail. His bail is $30,000.

Upchurch and Hamby have been charged with third-degree felony possession of child pornography. The offense is punishable by two to 10 years in prison, in the event of a conviction.
