Texarkana businessman Curt Green recently was appointed to the executive board of the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation.

Green is a commercial real estate broker with a history of leadership in Southwest Arkansas.

"We are pleased to have Curt join the board at this critical time in the development and improvement of infrastructure in Arkansas," board President Dan Flowers said in a news release. "Developing real estate projects in Texarkana and multiple cities has given Curt a deep understanding of how good roads improve local economies and make us all safer."

Green said he is excited to join Good Roads, which he views as an advocate of Arkansas' infrastructure needs.

"Good Roads works to be a thoughtful voice in reminding hard-working Arkansans that a strategic, long-term effort is needed to improve roads and bridges that are in poor condition."

Arkansas has 663 bridges and 6,711 miles of roads that are considered to be in poor condition, according to the news release. The average driver in Arkansas pays an additional $671 per year in vehicle costs due to driving on poor roads.

Green began his residential real estate career in 1973 and moved into commercial real estate, construction and development full time in 1980. He is a past chairman of the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce and a recipient of the Idalee Hawkins Leadership Award, and the C.E. Palmer Community Service Award. Green has been active in the Arkansas Good Roads Foundation and the I-49 International Coalition for more than 20 years.

The Good Roads League of the State of Arkansas was formed in April 1896. In 2021, the organization ran a digital communication strategy that reached more than 1 million people. The foundation also hosts an annual meeting that features industry leaders discussing relevant infrastructure policy issues.
