Miller County man arrested after allegedly shooting nephew during family dispute

MILLER COUNTY, Ark. -- A Miller County man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his nephew during an argument.

Randy Williams, 56, was arrested on a charge of first degree battery, which is a class B felony, according to a news release from the Miller County Sheriff's Office.

Miller County Deputies were dispatched at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 1100 block of Miller County Road 462 regarding shots fired. Reports indicated that the suspect, identified as Randy Williams, was involved in a dispute with his nephew, Larry Williams of Fouke, Arkansas.

The victim told deputies the dispute escalated, which resulted in Randy Williams allegedly brandishing a handgun and firing several shots. Larry Williams was struck once in the upper right hip and once in the upper left leg. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

Miller County deputies and detectives apprehended the suspect without further incident. Randy Williams was transported to the Miller County Detention Center where remains in custody pending arraignment.
