L-E girls, Rabbs each claim gold relay medals

AUSTIN -- Liberty-Eylau's girls and Atlanta's boys each claimed gold medals in their respective 4x100 relay races during the UIL state championship track & field meet, held Thursday for Classes 4A and 3A, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The Lady Leopard 4x100 team of Indiyah Aldridge, Ja'Niya Sanders, Myah Hurd and Nevaeh Hill won with a time of 47.17, with Waxahachie Life placing second in 47.49.

The same foursome for Liberty-Eylau ran fourth in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:41.8.

Atlanta's boys won the Class 3A 4x100 relay, edging Brock by less than two-tenths of a second. The Rabbs took gold in 41.74 with Brock finishing second in 41.92.

Isaiah Chandler, Zakyus Jackson, Markeylin Batton and JaBranden Wells made up the Atlanta 4x100 relay team.

The Rabbs' 4x400 relay team of Chandler, Matthew Cauley, Eli Riojas and Wells finished fifth in 3:24.06.

L-E's Jaevon Stewart placed fourth in the 4A boys 110 hurdles with a time of 14.66.

In the girls 3A 300 hurdles, Queen City's Toni McCellon placed eighth in 48.39.

Atlanta's Stacy Darty took fifth in the 3A boys triple jump with a distance of 45-0 3/4.

Paul Pewitt's Isaac Hodges tied for sixth with White Oak's Colton Fears after both cleared 13-6 in the 3A pole vault.

Redwater's David McKeever cleared 20-6 1/4 in the 3A boys long jump to finish ninth.
