PG falls to Mabank, 7-2, in Game 1

WINNSBORO, Texas -- Mabank built a 5-0 lead after three innings and went on to a 7-2 victory over Pleasant Grove in Game 1 of a Class 4A regional quarterfinals playoff softball series at Winnsboro High School on Thursday.

Lexi Snyder took the loss for the Lady Hawks, surrendered 7 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings and struck out 4.

Freshman Kai Hudson earned the win, gave up 2 runs on 7 hits over 7 innings of work and struck out 11 for the Lady Panthers (27-6-1).

Adi Koller and Mackenzie Williams went 2 for 3 each for Pleasant Grove. Koller smacked a triple. Hailey Allen and Abby Runion each had an RBI for the Hawks (16-12-4).

Game 2 is back at Winnsboro High School at 6 p.m. today. A Game 3, if needed, is at Winnsboro High School at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The winner plays Kennedale or Melissa in the Class 4A regional semifinals next week.
