TEXARKANA, Texas -- Target on Richmond Road is expanding its grocery story and beauty department.
Construction crews and storage pods appeared this week in the parking lot, carrying various products and display equipment.
"I wasn't expecting it. Last few times I've been here all the shelves have been gone," said customer Benjamin Rickett. "I've never been to a super Target, so it should be interesting."
The remodeling started this week and is expected to be complete sometime in September.
"The entire store will be remodeled," said Shelly Wells, executive team leader of the remodeling project.
"We're adding a full grocery and expanding beauty section," Wells said. "We're bringing back the snack bar, which will have grab-and-go snacks that people can buy."
Wells anticipates a sense of reinvigoration to come to the store.
"A lot of people are already excited about it. Our team members like it; we're excited as well."
Ashlynn Gonzales and Savannah Smith, with their puppy Charlie, were perusing the home section when they learned about the grocery expansion.
"I didn't know we were getting an actual grocery store to make this a super Target, but this is super exciting," Gonzales said. "We literally go out of town all the time to go to a super Target. I think they're so cool, so I think this will be a good expansion for Texarkana."
"We'll look like new again," said executive team lead Lisa McGaugh.
