Lady Hawks force Game 3 with 12-2 win

WINNSBORO, Texas -- Pleasant Grove scored 6 runs in the fifth inning and run-ruled Mabank, 12-2, in 6 innings in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal softball game at Winnsboro High School on Friday.

The Lady Hawks (17-12-4) evened the 3-game series at 1 game apiece and will take on the Lady Panthers in a winner-take-all Game 3 today at Winnsboro High School at 12:30.

Adi Koller went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI for Pleasant Grove. Pitcher Lexi Snyder earned the win, tossed 6 frames of 3-hit ball, gave up 2 runs, threw 118 pitches, walked 7 and struck out 7. Snyder also went 3 for 5 at the dish with 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.

Presley Humphrey slugged a home run in the first, went 2 for 4 and drove in 3 runs for the Hawks. Mackenzie Williams went 3 for 3 with an RBI for PG.

Abby Runion smacked an RBI double for the Hawks and teammate Sarah Hackleman doubled. Pleasant Grove did not have an error in the field.

Baylee Sales took the loss for Mabank (27-7-1), went 3 2/3 innings, allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, struck out 3 and did not issue a walk.

The winner of today's rubber game will play Melissa in the Class 4A regional semifinals next week.
