Five teams -- two softball and three baseball -- from Northeast Texas remain in the UIL state playoffs.
In the softball regional semifinals, Pleasant Grove (17-10-2) and Melissa (27-5) clash in aClass 4A single game, scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday.
Hughes Springs (27-3-1) and Prairiland (27-7) meet in a 3A best-of-3 series at Winnsboro. Games 1 and 2 will be played Thursday starting at 6. A third game, if needed, is set for noon Saturday.
Liberty-Eylau (20-11-1) and Bullard (20-13) meet in a Class 4A baseball regional quarterfinal single-elimination game at 7 p.m. Friday at Winnsboro.
In the 2A regional quarterfinals, Maud takes on Rivercrest and James Bowie faces Beckville.
The Pirates and Beckville play at Longview High School with two games Thursday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m., and a third game, if needed, will be played at 2 Saturday.
No details on Maud's matchup with Rivercrest were available Monday.
