New L-EISD board members to be sworn in Thursday

TEXARKANA, Texas -- The Liberty-Eylau Independent School District Board of Trustees will swear in its two new members during a regular meeting on Thursday evening.

Former Board Vice President Debbie Courtney and Place 3 Trustee Chad Turner are retiring after eight and 12 years of service, respectively. Former L-EISD Trustee Brad Haugh will replace Turner, while new member Renee Martin will take Courtney's place.

Haugh previously served the board for about a year and a half in 2019 and 2020. He is a 2000 graduate of Liberty-Eylau High School and has served on the District Leadership Team, the board of the L-E Youth Sports Association and was the past chairman of the Bond Election Support Committee.

This will be Martin's first experience as a board member. Martin is a district manager for Tri-State Fastener & Supply Inc. and has children who previously went to Liberty-Eylau schools.

Before the regular business of the meeting convenes, there will be a certificate of gratitude handed to LE's board members.

Shortly after, the oath of office will be administered to Martin and Haugh by Brooke Haugh, notary public. The officer election will then be held.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at 2901 Leopard Drive.
