Bowie commissioners OK truck, software buys

NEW BOSTON, Texas -- Vehicle and computer software purchases topped the Bowie County Commissioners Court's agenda during a meeting Monday.

The Commissioners agreed to use American Rescue Plan Act funds to buy four Ford F-150 pickups, collectively valued at $120,735, for the Bowie County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Jeff Neal said at least one of the trucks could be used for carrying stolen property and evidence.

Court members also agreed to use $30,040 in ARPA funds to buy UKG Ready computer software.

Bowie County Auditor Jennifer Beckett said the software will help save funds, since it will replace the old work-hour time sheet processing for county jail personnel.

In other business, court members appointed Robin Curtis to replace Wallace York on the Bowie County Housing Authority's Board of Commissioners.
