DETROIT, Texas -- The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down Tuesday in Red River County.

The reported EF-1 twister, with estimated peak winds at 95 mph, was on the ground about 3:52 p.m., according to the Red River County Office of Emergency Management.

The tornado first touched down to the northeast of Detroit along County Road 2127. It crossed the road and snapped and uprooted hardwood trees before crossing County Road 2133, according to OEM.

The storm also damaged a manufactured home but there were no injuries.

The tornado traveled more than 7 miles and cut a swath 100 yards wide.

The storm was 103 miles away from the radar so the county received no warnings.

"In the meantime, the county will be working closely with its Skywarn trained spotters and first responders to report any sudden changes in weather so it can improve its ability to detect dangerous systems and better warn the public," said a post on the OEM Facebook page.
