About 70 Miller County residents and officials gather Friday, May 27, 2022, at Alex Smith Park in Miller County for the dedication of two pavilions. The pavilions honor Miller County jailer Lisa Mauldin and sheriff's Deputy Charles Barnes, who lost their lives in the line of duty. Parks Committee Member Bill Pointer officiated at the dedication. County resident Alex Smith donated 320 acres in 1962 to form the park. Today, Smith Park also has a pollination garden and a gun range. Two more pavilions also are in the works.
