BREAKING | McCurtain County, Okla., reports extensive storm damage

IDABEL, Okla. -- A tornado has caused major damage and a possible fatality in McCurtain County, Oklahoma.

"There was total destruction on the south and east sides of Idabel," said Steven Carter, an emergency management coordinator for McCurtain County.

There was major damage to Kiamichi Medical Clinic, Idabel Trinity Baptist Church and Catfish King Restaurant east of Idabel, according to officials.

People were still trapped late Friday, Carter said.

There was a possible fatality in the Pickens community in the western part of the county, according to officials.

After striking Idabel, the storm moved east toward Eagletown, Oklahoma on the East side of Broken Bow on U.S. Highway 70.

There were reports of power lines down between Broken Bow and Eagletown.

"It's bad. Expect Eagletown to be out of power for a couple of days," said a spokesman for the Eagletown Volunteer Fire Depaertment. "It cut a path from Idabel."

There were reports of a family trapped in a cellar in Eagletown, but they had communicated with emergency management and were reportedly doing fine.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport, La., will determine if a tornado touched down and the wind speeds
