NEAR REDWATER, Texas -- An elderly man was seriously injured when an explosion set his house on fire Saturday afternoon.
The fire was reported about 12:30 p.m. on County Road 1230, off Farm to Market Road 991. Several fire agencies, first responders and Bowie County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the scene.
The injured man uses an oxygen tank and reportedly was smoking at the time, Sheriff Jeff Neal said. He was pulled from the home by a relative who is a neighbor and taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
