WASHINGTON, Ark. -- A pair of events will bring sweets, treats, Christmas and candlelight to Historic Washington State Park.
The park will host a "Sweets and Treats" cooking workshop on Saturday and its 36th annual "Christmas and Candlelight" event on Dec. 9-10.
In the workshop, participants will explore historic recipes and cooking techniques through hands-on preparation, then enjoy the fruits of their labor.
During "Christmas and Candlelight," period decorations will adorn the historic town and thousands of luminaries will light the streets.
A horse-drawn surrey will be available for rides, and Williams' Tavern Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The park is a restoration village interpreting the historic Arkansas town in the 19th century. Daily tours are provided to over 15 historic sites and museums, such as the B.W. Edwards Weapons Museum and Blacksmith Shop.
(The park is open daily, except Mondays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Sweets and Treats" is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. Admission is $25 per person, and registration is required.
