TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Efforts to move Miller County's offices back to the courthouse are continuing at a steady pace.

Earlier this month, both the county judge's office and circuit clerk's office moved back to the vintage 1939 building.

Officials are looking at having both the treasurer's office and county clerk's office moved back to the courthouse at 400 Laurel St. starting Wednesday.

Miller County Clerk Stephanie Harvin said her office move back may well take longer than a day, since it took about a week for her office to get settled in the Landmark Building following the February 2021 courthouse flooding caused by burst frozen water pipes.

"We are definitely going to have to be ready by next Monday (Oct. 24) because that's when early voting starts (for the Nov. 8 General Election)," she said. "We also have 43 file cabinets to move, in addition to everything else."

Miller County Treasurer Teresa Reed said she will need to have both her copy machine and postage machine moved back.

Miller County Elections Coordinator Linda Crawford said Monday that the county's voting equipment, currently being stored at the Landmark Building, will need to be placed inside the American Legion Building, 525 E. Broad St., by Friday to be available for voters.

"The day after Election Day, everything will go back to being stored in the courthouse basement," she said.
