EDITORIAL/Marriage Equality? Are in in favor of federal legislation protecting same-sex, interracial marriage?

September 15, 2022 at 10:00 p.m.

The U.S. Senate seemed set to pass a bill to ensue the legality nationwide of same-sex and interracial marriages as early as next week.

The respect for Marriage Act would require states recognize marriages without regard to "sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin of those individuals." The bill does not extend protection to plural or group marriages.

The U.S. House has already passed the legislation with bipartisan support. Supporters in the Senate figured they had the votes, too.

But now the bill will have to wait until after the November midterm elections. It seems several Republican senators, fearing a backlash from the more religious and conservative elements of the base, did not want to go on the record supporting same-sex marriage protections until after voters had gone to the polls.

We want to know what you think. Do you support legislation that ensures same-sex and interracial marriage remains legal throughout the U.S.? Are are you opposed to such a bill?

Last Week: Annual Shot?

Last week's question was about the Biden administration's announcement that protection against COVID-19 may require an annual vaccination, like the flu shot. Are you prepared to take an annual COVID-19 shot? Or will you refuse to do so?

Why not! I take a annual flu shot so, if a annual Covid 19 is needed to prevent Covid, I don't see what the problem would be. The flu and Covid 19 would not be mandated, so it would be your choice. -- R.K., Texarkana, Texas

Definitely, just like I get my flu shot. -- C.M., Texarkana, Arkansas

- Yes I will take the shot

- Not taking it nor the flu shot

- I would take it it would be similar to my yearly flu shot l'm all boosted up and haven't been hospitalized in years

- It's a no from me. I've already had Guillain Barre syndrome ... I don't need heart issues too.

- No to the covid shot.

- Definitely No to both

- 100% refuse... Im not a sheep

- Poison

- I get the annual flu shot so why not

- Nope

- No

- I've never taken a flu shot nor have I taken any of these Covid injections!! I will continue to refuse any govt mandated injections!!
