EDITORIAL/Nuclear Attack? Are you worried Russia might use atomic weapons?

September 22, 2022 at 10:00 p.m.

As Russia's war on the Ukraine continues, the rhetoric is heating up.

If it is just rhetoric, that is.

Things are not going all the well for Russian strongman Vladimir Putin. Taking the Ukraine has not been as easy as he might have thought.

And once again he is making not-so-veiled threats he might use Russia's nuclear arsenal should the U.S. and Western allies engage in military action against his country.

"If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people," Putin said Wednesday, adding, "It's not a bluff."

Many analysts say it is indeed a bluff. But others are not so sure, warning should things get worse for Russia in the Ukraine, a desperate Putin might be capable of the unthinkable.

We want to know what you think. Are you worried about the possibility of a Russian nuclear attack that might plunge the U.S. into a nuclear war? Or do you think such a thing is highly unlikely?

Send your response (50 words maximum) to [email protected] by Wednesday, September 28. You can also mail your response to the Texarkana Gazette Friday Poll, at P.O. Last Week: Marriage Legislation?

Last week's question was about possible federal legislation to keep same-sex and interracial marriage nationwide, no matter what any state might decide to do. Do you support legislation that ensures same-sex and interracial marriage remains legal throughout the U.S.? Are are you opposed to such a bill?

Absolutely, I support legislation that ensures that same sex and interracial marriages stay legal throughout the U.S. First, these bigots want to take women's reproduction choices away, ban books and now who you can marry. What is wrong with these so religious zealots, bigoted racist that want to control everyone's lives? What we need is more love not less. What is America becoming? So sad! -- R.K., Texarkana, Texas

- I support the government getting back to what they are supposed to, upholding the constitution and protecting our borders....otherwise leave the citizens of America alone.

- I don't care who you marry.

- Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman.

- Where is it illegal for interracial marriage? I'm certain that's already legal.

- I mean you marry whoever you want. It is not my place to judge you.
