Four States marching contest Saturday

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Tiger Stadium at Grim Park will march to the sound of hundreds of different drummers Saturday for the annual Four States Invitational Marching Contest.

The contest will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude with the awards presentation about 8 p.m. It provides an opportunity for participating bands to prepare for regional competitions, Texarkana Independent School District said in a news release.

"An expected 4,000 students representing 20 schools from the four states area will be in attendance to display their unique marching styles and abilities," according to the news release.

Host Texas High School will open the contest at 9:30 a.m. Afterward, bands will perform their shows every 15 minutes starting at 10 a.m.

The order of performances is Genoa Central, Maud, New Boston, James Bowie, Prescott, Linden-Kildare,n Hawkins, Prairiland, Clarksville, Hooks, Jefferson, Tatum, Redwater, Queen City, Liberty-Eylau, Benton, Pleasant Grove, Arkansas High, Tyler and Texas High.

The top 10 finalists will perform starting at 5:15 p.m.

Admission is $5 per adult and $2 per student.
