FOREMAN, Ark. -- Customers of Foreman Waterworks are under a boil order as a precaution against potential water contamination caused by a break in the main supply line.

The order was issued Thursday.

"Under the boil water order, all affected customers must be advised that water may be unsafe for human consumption," according to a news release by water company engineer Dean Gernon. "Water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice."

The order will remain in effect until "an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system, and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink."
