Recent Liberty-Eylau graduate Nevaeh Hill's athletic prowess has earned her the nickname "The Beast" and a ticket to the University of Arkansas - Little Rock, where she will continue to compete in track as she works toward a career in healthcare.
The 18-year-old signed with UALR on May 10th and will pursue a degree in nursing, with plans to become a midwife.
Nevaeh plans to handle the workload by taking it "one day at a time."
The talented teen often refers to Philippians 4:13 for comfort, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
Nevaeh, whose accomplishments include a state championship and graduating magna cum laude, is no stranger to hard work.
"Track has molded me into who I am mentally and physically. You have to go through pain to get to the goal, so you have to want it."
The idea of helping children and educating adults is what drew Nevaeh to becoming a midwife.
Nevaeh, a strong woman in her own right, believes that, as a woman, you need to be strong on your own. Her mother and grandmother have been some of her greatest inspirations.
"They are strong Black women and they inspire me everyday."
Nevaeh was born in Sulphur Springs and raised in Texarkana. She has one older sister, Alexis, and one nephew, Adonis. At home she also has three dogs: Diamond, Coco and Brown.
The teen expressed appreciation for all of the support she received while at L-EISD.
"Thank you to everyone who for supporting me from the start of my journey in track. I appreciate all of the people coming around and just being there -- just supporting me."
