TEXARKANA, Texas -- Monday was a day of asbestos abatement and debris removal at the former Pine Street school building as Texarkana Independent School District moves forward with plans to clear the site and construct a new elementary.

The project is part of the $189 million bond package voters passed in November 2022.

Hart Construction and Gill Industries Ltd. are completing the early stages of the project toward the building of a campus that will eventually replace Highland Park and Spring Lake Park elementary schools.
