REDWATER, Texas -- Redwater Independent School teachers and staff learned how to disarm an assailant and treat the injured during an active shooter training Monday afternoon at the elementary.

More than 200 participated in the training facilitated by LifeNet and area law enforcement.
Officers assumed the role of an active threat, pulling on doors as they brandished "guns." The hallways remained empty and the doors secured, thanks to work of district personnel, who learned how to barricade themselves and children in classrooms.
Teachers also learned takedown moves and first aid techniques, including applying tourniquets and packing wounds.
