Soil removal, downtown event venue on Texarkana, Ark., city board agenda

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Construction contracts, downtown event venues and commercial land rezoning are some of the topics the Board of Directors will discuss today.

City directors will consider approving a construction contract with the local firm Francis Excavating for soil removal around Rolling Ridge Drive, Dudley Avenue and Woodland Road.

Public Works Director Tyler Richards will speak to the board on the project.

The agenda also shows Parks and Recreation Director Adam Dalby will address the board on a possible downtown event venue. Dalby is expected to request that Acting City Manager TyRhonda Henderson to negotiate a contract with Crossties LLC and Crossties of Texarkana Inc. to create the venue.

In other business --

City Planner Mary Beck will speak about rezoning a tract of land at 3604 N. State Line Ave. from Open Display Commercial to General Retail Commercial.

Fire Chief David Fletcher will make a presentation on Miller County's Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 216 Walnut St.
