ATLANTA, Texas -- One of Atlanta Independent School District's own is running for one of three at-large positions on the Teacher Retirement System of Texas Board of Trustees.
Laronda Graf is the school district's director of human resources, and her platform is protecting retirement benefits.
"It is important for our retirement to remain a defined benefit plan," Graf said. "It is important to maintain consistent retirement eligibility rules and benefit levels. The system needs to manage our retirement so that it is sound and stable for all of us and provides reasonable cost of living adjustments for retirees."
Graf has worked in education administration for 20 years and comes from a family of educators.
The election will be conducted by mailed ballots between March 15 and May 5.
The term expires Aug. 31, 2029.
