TEXARKANA, Ark. -- A veteran educator is set to take the helm at Arkansas High School.

Brad Bailey, an assistant superintendent at Lake Travis Independent School District, is returning to Texarkana to succeed Dr. Robin Hickerson, who is retiring as principal at the high school.

Hickerson's retirement is effective June 30. Bailey's official first day on the job is July 1.

"Dr. Hickerson leaves big shoes to fill. However, I am confident that Mr. Bailey will hit the ground running and continue our tradition of excellence in education in the Texarkana Arkansas School District," Superintendent Dr. Becky Kesler said.

Bailey, who has been in education for more than 30 years, was named assistant principal at Texas High School in 2007 and later became principal. He left TISD in 2021 as chief operations officer to become assistant superintendent of operations/Title IX coordinator at Lake Travis.

Bailey said he is honored to join the Razorback family.

"I am looking forward to working alongside the excellent team at the high school to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for all students."

Hickerson is also assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. She began serving as principal in June 2018, when Michael Odom left the high school to oversee Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding for the district.
