TEXARKANA, Texas -- Twin City coffee lovers will soon have another place to satisfy their caffeinated cravings.

Scooter's Coffee franchisee Amos Kropf said the shop was originally supposed to open in December, but he hit some snags and will open on April 10 or April 17.

Kropf said another location will be opened on Seventh Street in Wake Village in July.

Wake Village City Administrator Jim Roberts said he wasn't aware of a new business as all permits have to go through his office.

"I don't know of any property on Seventh Street that's in our city that's been sold," Roberts said.

The Richmond-bound coffee shop has plans to begin hiring employees next week and already has a general manager at the ready. Knopf said he has plans to employ 15-20 workers.

"We just think it (Texarkana) is a great area," Kropf said in a previous Gazette report. "There's a lot of college students and schools that will probably like coffee. It's one of the fastest-growing towns in America right now."

Lisa Thompson, public information officer for the city of Texarkana, Texas, said Scooter's Coffee received a permit in August.

"We welcome this new business to our town, and wish the owners much success in the future," Thompson said.

Scooter's Coffee was founded by Don and Linda Eckles, who opened their first drive-thru coffeehouse in 1998 in Bellevue, Nebraska, according to the company's website.
