TEXARKANA, Texas — A&M-Texarkana senior Kobe Powell is receiving one more honor after a stellar final season, having been named NAIA All-American Third Team on Tuesday afternoon.

Powell adds this recognition to a pair of 1st Team All-Red River Athletic Conference selections over the past two seasons and an All-Tournament Team selection for last month's RRAC conference tournament.

Powell led the Eagles to a program-record 22 wins during the 2022-23 campaign, as the team finished the season 22-9 overall, and a 14-6 RRAC record that gave the Eagles the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. TAMU-T was defeated in the conference semifinals but still earned a spot in the NAIA national tournament, where they were beaten in the first round by Tougaloo (Miss.).

Powell averaged a team-high 18.7 points per game in 31 games, including 28 starts. Averaging 30.8 minutes per contest, "KP" also grabbed 8.1 rebounds per game and added 4.3 assists and 1.9 steals each contest.

On Jan. 12, Powell scored a school-record 35 points in a 79-70 win over Xavier, hitting 9 of 13 shots from the floor and 14 of 16 from the free throw line. He also grabbed 13 rebounds in the game. The single-game mark would later be broken by Trey Spencer, who scored 40 points during the Eagles' final home game of the season.

Powell had 10 double-doubles on the season, scored at least 20 points on 12 different occasions and had five games with 13 or more rebounds. On Jan. 26, during a game at University of the Southwest, Powell passed the 1,000-point mark for his career and also helped the Eagles to a program-best 13-0 record at the Patterson Center during the 2022-23 season.
