TEXARKANA, Ark. -- County Avenue may be getting some new repaving and resurfacing within the next few months.

The city Board of Directors agreed Monday to hire the A.L. Franks Engineering firm to conduct design work for improving rough areas along County Avenue, perhaps starting in September, Public Works Director Tyler Richards said.

Board members agreed to pay the company $47,440 for their engineering services.

"It's been about 25 years since County Avenue has had any real extensive base work done," Richards said.

City officials first started looking for qualified road engineers, architects and surveyors for the County Avenue project in June 2022, according to city records.
