TEXARKANA, Ark. -- A man was arrested Tuesday night after police received a call that someone was running down County Avenue with no pants on.

Police responded at 8:57 p.m. to the 3700 block of County Avenue, according to Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.

"The suspect was naked from the waist down and running north in the middle of County Avenue," TAPD said.

Several cars were stopped behind the man, who was yelling, according to the responding officer.

The officer ordered the man to stop, but he reportedly continued yelling and waving his hands wildly as he ran toward the officer.

The officer sprayed the man with a 1-second burst of pepper spray. However, the man continued to act erratically and to scream, so he was sprayed again, according to police.

The suspect eventually complied with the officer's commands. He was arrested on charges of public intoxication and failure to submit to arrest.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where it was determined he needed medical attention for an existing condition and possible drug usage. He was released to the custody of the hospital; a court date is pending, according to police.
