Texarkana ISD closes investigation into firearm allegedly brought to middle school

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texarkana Independent School District has closed an investigation into a firearm allegedly brought on campus March 8 by at student at Texas Middle School.

Todd Marshall, the district's chief communications officer, said no additional information was discovered through the investigation.

"The issue is closed. Appropriate discipline action was taken, and that information is protected due to the age of the student," Marshall said.

Texarkana Texas Police Department Sgt. Kim Weaver said no criminal charges were filed.

According to Principal Shawn Davis' statement to parents, TMS administration was made aware after the school day that a student reported bringing a firearm onto campus grounds.

"There were no threats made to any students or staff. After TISD was made aware of the report a thorough investigation was initiated immediately," Principal Shawn Davis said.
